To get your foot in the door, consider interning at a local agency. This will help you see from the inside if the hours and work are something you can handle. It’ll also give the agency a platform to see your talent (assuming you have some). It will basically tell you if this is something worth your time or if you need to go in a new direction.

You should practice your marketing skills. Get a good portfolio going with past successes. You can only do this through work experience.
