I want to issue each of my employees their own url to use when they are sending email marketing, social media or other incidences where they may have the ability to drive some traffic back to my company. ie. http://employeeID.mycompany.com
The reason is I want to be able to track which of my employees is driving traffic and reward them appropriately.
Any ideas on how to set something like this up?
Better to set up individual emails using employee ID numbers: 12345467@domain.com or however you ID them. If you have a proper hosting site for your company, it should allow unlimited email accounts. Each person can have their own login info and you would have the one for all.

I’m not going to go into much detail with this but you could use a tool like a hit counter on each page to record the amount of traffic on each employee page.

Without more detail into your specific setup, it’s hard to answer this. However, in IIS and Apache, it’s possible to set up multihomed or virtual sites on the server that would redirect to a single page. You’ll need to do three things:
- Set up DNS entries for "employee1.company.com" through "employeeN.company.com" that all point to "www.company.com"
- Set up your HTTP daemon to refer all "*.company.com" to "www.company.com"
- Write a script to grab the referring URL "employeeN.company.com" from each request and write to a database or log to assign proper credit
